Sports Performance - Spain
We are home now from Spain and we are all getting much needed rest after an action packed week in Spain. Hear from our team about the last day and their time in Spain...
From Amber: Our last day in Spain was filled to the brim with goodness.
We started with team time and breakfast, where we were able to go over our final Biblical principle. After that, we headed back to the clinic for the final classes of the Sports Medicine conference. On the way to the clinic Kenny took us for churros and chocolate to ensure we were fully fueled for our day.
The 2nd day of the conference included an interactive demonstration of ankle taping as well as education on Knee injury evaluation, Functional Movement Screening and Designing Strength Training programs. We also handed out some sport medicine items to our attendees so they are able to better utilize the knowledge they learned at the conference. They also received a certificate of attendance. They were all very gracious and excited for their new knowledge.
After the conference we were able to spend some time with our AIA supporters Luis and Joyce. We had lunch at a delicious Venezuelan restaurant where Luis introduced us to all the typical favorites. Joyce then took us on a walking tour of Madrid's city center. It was so wonderful to get to know her and see the beautiful sites of Madrid. Our day ended with Kenny taking us to dinner at Tapas restaurant where I was able to finally try Gazpacho.
I am so thankful to have had this opportunity to use my professional talents in an international ministry setting and partner with AIA to help grow and develop people's character for Christ. Lisa and Courtney were wonderful to work with and I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with them growing in Christ. I look forward to continuing the friendships made and future ministries with AIA.
This is Amber signing off :)
Going into Spain, I really didn't have too many expectations. My prayer was that the Lord would be present in all we said and did while we were in country. He went so far beyond that though (as he usually does).
The tour experience was incredible!! I loved working with the different teams and getting to interact with women of different ages and cultures. Learning about them, growing with them, and even learning from them was such a refreshing experience.
It is very difficult for me to choose one highlight from the trip. One part that I loved was our time in Madrid teaching at the sports performance clinic. Athletic training and caring for athletes is my passion, so having the opportunity to share those skills with others and teach how to care well for the entire athlete or patient was so fun for me!
From Lisa (the Director): One of the best yet!
A lot of work goes into these tours. Months and months ahead of time we as directors are talking through the internet, WhatsApp, email, etc. to our AIA staff overseas and setting up the tours, praying for the tours, and any other trouble shooting that may come along. This year was no exception. It always seems that we plan and plan, but God does something different and we are forced to adjust our plans for the better. We had so many open doors this year and the follow up with young women and men has already begun! We also have the possibility of some new ministry avenues for the future. God is good and His ways are perfect!
Thank you for praying for us on this journey and I am sure that Amber, Courtney, and myself would love to tell you some stories of God's goodness to us on this tour!
Signing off for the team...
