    Volleyball - Thailand

Our last couple of days in Thailand ended perfectly. We got the amazing opportunity of riding elephants through the mountains, a beautiful place to relax and debrief, and one last time to laugh, worship, and say our goodbyes with the Thai staff.

The Thai AIA staff, Sao and Fai, were some of the most amazing people I have ever met. They are bold, selfless, and loving. There is no way we would have survived more than 24 hours without them helping to guide us, translate for us, and most importantly.. order food for us. They took care of us like we were their own and I am so thankful I had the honor of getting to know them.

Thailand is much different in America, for obvious reasons, and some not so obvious. When someone there decides to become a Christian they are most likely going to face persecution from their families and essentially they have to give up a lot in order to follow Christ. That is why it is so amazing to hear their stories and why they decided to come to Christ. Sao and Fai, along with a few of their volunteers have made such a huge impact on not only us but on every person they have come in contact with in Thailand. After we leave, it's up to them to continue the ministry and to follow up with all of the people we met during our trip to help guide them through their new journey with God. They do amazing work in Thailand with very little money and very little manpower.

If you would like to help support or assist them in anyway you can go to their donation pages through the links below!

We are all back home now and the feeling is so bittersweet! Thank you all so much for your love and support for every single person that went on this trip this year. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Joy is our discipler and she is awesome! I came on this trip wanting to know God better and to build my relationship with Him and she has lead me, and our team, to doing that every single day.

I talked to her about the challenges of her role here, how God has worked with them, and how this trip has been different from previous trips.

“I would say one fo the biggest challenges in my role is getting myself in a place of hearing from the Lord on behalf of the team. There is no set way in leading the team so that they grow in their love and knowledge of God. I have to listen to the Lord to know how to lead and trust God’s wisdom as I rest in Him. I have also had to find a good balance of challenging each team member that is appropriate to where they are at with their own spiritual walk.”

“A couple of things come to mind on how this trip has been different than past trips I have been on with AIA.  I am ina different place in my faith journey so I have felt that I have lead the team differently out of my own brokenness and intimacy with the Lord. My goal was to lead spiritually out of a place of rest in the Lord and I feel I have done this with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The other think that stands out to is the uniqueness of this group to engage with others I would say that this team has done about my expectations and hope of initiating and loving the Thai people. They have loved each other well as this has promted much spiritual growth in this team.”
