• AIA Tennis joins the FCA Total Athlete Camp at UCLA campus

    Section: Tennis

The AIA tennis tour team had an absolute blast joining in with the FCA All-Sport Camp held on the campus of UCLA for the afternoon of July 3rd. Upon arriving on campus, we immediately sensed the energy and excitement of the camp... we could hardly wait to jump in!

The AIA team made our way to the tennis facility to meet the group of 50 campers and 10 coaches participating in the tennis camp for the week and also received a tour of UCLA's tennis facility.

The afternoon training session ran from 2:15- 5pm. During this time, the AIA team had the opportunity to meet, encourage, and play with the tennis campers, share testimonies, and compete in the sprint relay races. Following practice, we made our way to one of UCLA's dining halls for dinner and got cleaned up for the evening. Next, we had the privilege of attending the nightly all-camp chapel service held in the Pauley Pavilion. The service was by far my favorite part of the visit.

The total athlete camp was comprised of roughly 700 high school students and the night really had amazing energy. We danced in our seats with the students to Trip Lee and Lecrae, were led in worship by a talented band, listened to a strong Christ exalting testimony by Carrie Prejean Boller (former Miss California), and heard a clear and bold gospel message taught from the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. In the invitation following the message, around 200 students were moved to make a profession or re-dedication of their faith. Christ was made so beautiful through the service. Simply amazing to see the Lord exalted and at work!

"I really enjoyed meeting and getting to talk with the campers during practice and dinner. One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to play with the coaching staff, including the current USC players..." -Genny Francis (W&L)

“I was very excited to see Athletes in Action Tennis participate with The Fellowship of Christian Athletes “Total Athlete Camp”.  Our tennis team jumped right in feeding balls and playing points. The AIA Team members Rebecca Harris and Natalie Hill shared from their heart and the Gospel with a group of 45+ young students. Huge thank-you to FCA Southern California for welcoming us and making this day a memorable one.” -Rich Benson (Tour Director)

Huge thank-you again for an amazing day!

The AIA Tennis team would like to thank The Murrieta Tennis Club and Tennis Director Scott Dickey for hosting our “Tennis for Everyone” event on July 1st.

We had a great time teaching tennis and sharing Jesus with about 50 adults and kids at Murrieta Tennis Club.  We enjoyed the tennis, food, and encouraging Gospel testimonies during the 3-hour tennis event.  Please check out the below recap video from the event!

Thank you for continuing to follow our team updates!

The majority of team arrived safely to the Ontario, CA airport on June 28th. Following our arrival, we traveled as a team to the first destination where we spent fhe first four full days of the tour in training camp. We were located in a lovely town outside of Los Angeles, called Murrieta.

In Murrieta we have stayed in groups of two in host homes, and so enjoyed getting to know these local families connected to Cornerstone Fellowship Christian Church. It was special and encouraging to see Christ represented in the families and we each feel fortunate to have spent time with these believers... THANK YOU again to the Limon's, the Knutson's and the Corse's for their hearts to serve.

    Training Camp Daily Schedule:

8am Breakfast with host families, morning devotion

9:30am Travel to Murrieta Tennis Club for practice

1-3pm Lunch as a team (Ethnic Food!)

    3-6pm Downtime

6:30pm Dinner together as a team/ Community Outreach Event

    9:30 BED :)

We have loved the beautiful sunshine and moderate temperatures this week... We've had productive (sweaty) practice in preparation for the upcoming California Open tournament, starting early next week (7/7-7/9).

During camp we have spent time meditating:

    1 Corinthians 9:24

"Do you not know that in a race all runner's compete, but only one recieves the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it."

The team has had a lot of time this first week to get to know one another and are bonding very well. With such different backgrounds it has been neat to see how the Lord has brought each of us together for this adventure. We share a common love for tennis and strong desire to know Jesus in a deeper way. Please pray over the next few days that we may continue to encounter the Lord in meaningful ways and share boldly with those who we meet.

Thank you for reading and Happy 4th!!
