    TAC - Challenge Course

Well, this is it. The last week of my internship with the Challenge Course here at Athletes In Action is coming to an end. It’s all a little surreal. I feel like my first day in the office was yesterday. I wish I had more days to spend out on the course, more lives to watch Christ change on those ropes.

I’ve grown so much in my walk with Christ this summer. God gave me an opportunity to take a leap of faith and trust in Him, by coming to a place I knew very little about on my own. As always, He has provided for me the whole way. I have made lifelong friends, made memories to last a lifetime, and most importantly, have learned so much about God’s plan for me and the path He wants me to be on.

Making the decision to come here was one of the scariest things I have ever done. It’s not surprising, because God seldom puts us on the easy path. However, making the decision to come here was also one of the most worthwhile things I have ever done, because our God is always fruitful, and provides us with the desires of our heart if we delight in Him. It’s just like the Challenge Course, really. Getting up there and moving from element to element is terrifying, but when we step out in faith, the lessons we learn and obstacles we overcome are always worth it.

My desire is that I would continue to set aside my desires and follow God’s will. I pray I will use the faith that God has provided me with and decide to take action, only walk on the path that will draw me closer to Him, and above all, make decisions that will bring Him glory. I am so thankful for the opportunity that I have had this summer. Athletes In Action is a truly Christ-centered ministry that the Lord uses to change lives and bring people to Him, and I hope to labor more for Christ with the organization in the future.

    Hebrews 11:6:

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.”

    TAC - Challenge Course

This week a group of middle school and high school-aged basketball players came to visit us at Athletes In Action from Kenya. The group was full of sweet and kind kids who had so much to share with us. It was so interesting to compare cultures. One student had a conversation with me about politics and religion in Kenya, and was interested to know what those two things consist of in the United States.

The students participated in both the low and high ropes course. On Monday, we did three low elements together, as well as a few ground initiatives. The kids had a lot of obstacles to overcome, as they were not familiar with some of the skills needed to complete the activities. However, they pushed through and worked together to accomplish as much as possible.

I worked with them on one of the low elements. Three groups rotated through the activities so I was able to work with all of the students at one point. Each group was very task-oriented, and spent a lot of time planning and testing their strategies. They were so focused on making the perfect plan that they did not leave enough time to carry it out. I think we do this a lot in our faith. Our intentions are good, but when the time comes to take action, we worry too much and have no faith that God will carry us across our obstacle. This was an interesting conversation to have with the students. It was an absolute blessing to be given the opportunity to work with them!
