    Sports Perf. - Honduras

In just a little over three weeks, our team will begin our trip to Honduras!  Please start praying for us now especially regarding:

Our Team:  Pray that each of us would continue to be diligent in inviting people to support us finanically and in prayer.  Please pray that we would continue to trust God to provide all that we need.  Pray that our team would connect well as soon as we first gather in the Miami airport.  Please pray that our spiritual prepartion for the trip would continue to be fruitful.  Pray that we would be eager to learn and eager to be flexible!

The Details:  Please pray that all of the logistical details would continue to fall into place as Jim and Karisa along with Marco (the Honduras AIA director) work to prepare.  Pray for the logistics regarding airline tickets, ministry activties, the conference schedule, team discipleship, and finances.

Honduras: Please pray for Marco and his family as they prepare to host our group.  Pray for the Cru/AIA volunteers, university officials, and Olympic Commitee officials that we will interact with.  Pray that we would be able to build relationships with the students, teachers, and coaches that we interact with.  Pray for Hondurans that may hear the Gosepl for the first time while we are in Honduras.

    Thank you for praying!

  • Meet the Honduras Team: Recia S.

    Section: Sports Perf.

2017 Teams: Sports Perf. - Honduras

     Sports Perf. - Honduras

Recia (“Reesha”) is a Certified Athletic Trainer from Fresno, California. She graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Athletic Training and earned her Master’s in Kinesiology from Fresno State University.

She has worked at various universities including University of Colorado and Southern Methodist University, and her current position is at Fresno State working with football, volleyball, and track and field. She also holds a strength and conditioning certification and has recently been certified in Functional Movement Screening.

When asked about the trip, Recia said, "I am excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of the people we speak with. It is so amazing to me how someone's testimony can have such an impact on another person's life and move them closer towards God.  I look forward to working with Marco and expanding on the work he and his family have started in Honduras.

I'm also excited to meet (in person, not on Google handouts) this great group of people we have coming together for this mission. I love travelling because of all the different people you get to meet and hear their different stories.  An added bonus for this team is that we all work/study in similar fields. I'm excited to bounce ideas off of people and take those home to implement with my athletes.

God has been doing some amazing things in my life recently and I know that will continue through this trip. I've met some people recently who have had a big impact on my walk with God and I can't wait to see that continue to grow as we prepare for and carry out this missions trip."

  • Meet the Honduras Team: Matt R.

    Section: Sports Perf.

2017 Teams: Sports Perf. - Honduras

    Sports Perf. - Honduras

Matt is working as a Physiotherapist in Vancouver, Canada. He completed a Masters in Physical Therapy from UBC after receiving a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from UBC Okanagan.

He pursued a career in physiotherapy after broadening his experiences in Australia, where he developed further skills in strength and conditioning coaching and rehabilitation techniques while spending time as a kinesiologist and student athletic therapist with numerous teams.

He has a passion for both local and international ministry and is very excited to meet an amazing team to share our athletic skills, experience, and faith with others!

When asked about the trip, Matt said, "I am truly looking forward to meeting our team of students and professionals from across the country, while having the opportunity to share the gospel, teach one another in our areas of expertise, and meet Marco and his family.  I am excited to experience the ways in which Marco and the AIA ministry team are meeting the needs of athletes, coaches, and students in Honduras.

Most of all I look forward to sharing my testimony, my skills and knowledge in physiotherapy, and my experience of what it is like to live as a Christian health professional and athlete in Canada.  I expect that I will leave this trip with many new friends, mentors, Christian brothers and sisters, a greater spiritual maturity, and new knowledge in sport performance!"
