This is worship. Breaking down our bodies, pushing beyond our comfort zones, and pushing our teammates and opponents to do the same thing, is a form of worship. Using the talent and opportunities that He's given us brings Him joy.
One of the other team captains, Stacey, spoke beautifully about this concept last night. She said that worshipping with our weak and broken bodies is the best we can do, but that His power is infinitely greater than what we are capable of. And despite our unworthiness, He has completely forgiven us, restored us, and given us hope, for Him to work in us in this life and reward us in the future life. Not because of our actions. Just because of His grace.
Last night, after we had napped and recovered, we all went to a beautiful banquet hall right in San German to celebrate the end of the Special and to share how God had worked in each of us. The testimonies and reflections were incredible, and what made it more incredible, as my small group leader Macy pointed out, was that each of our very real personal experiences came from the work of the same God.
"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put His spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." - 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
