Scouts Complete Sweep Of Lake Erie

XENIA, Ohio – It was a long time coming for Scouts starter Kyle Brunner. Wednesday night, the Scouts called Brunner to the mound for the first time, and he did not disappoint, leading the Scouts to a 8-1 victory over the Lake Erie Monarchs.

The Scouts offense shined in the first innings, after singles from Jeremy Barth and Donald Ring, Chandler Adkins two RBI single gave the Scouts an early lead. Adkins would pick up another RBI later in the night, increasing his season total to a team high 15.

Two batters later, Adrian Marquez hit a three run homer to right field to increase the Xenia lead to 5-0.

Brunner pitched masterfully in his Scout debut, going 5 innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out 4 Monarchs. Nick Cecil added three strikeouts of his own in four impressive innings of scoreless relief.

The victory moves the Scouts to 9-6 on the season. They will head to Richmond, IN on Thursday night to face off against the Richmond Jazz. First pitch set for 7:05EST. Broadcast is available on the Xenia Scouts Radio Network.
